Hi all, with the ongoing COVID-19 situation, we've had to make some changes around our shipping and we wanted to give you some background on why we've made them and what they are
At the beginning of our transition from market based to mail-order business, we used Royal Mail 1st class. This, in most cases, resulted in safe next day delivery. As the situation progressed from social distancing through to lock down, increasing pressure has been put on Royal Mail services, raising demand to Christmas time levels. We found that some deliveries were being delayed by over a week, we saw an increase of leakages, with rough handling resulting in a disappointing number of breakages.
We've therefore put in place the following measures to ensure safe delivery of your orders
Delivery
Sadly, we've come to the realisation that Royal Mail was increasingly not able to offer the service we normally enjoyed. Royal Mail 1st Class rates started from £3.90 and was based on weight. As we have moved away from Royal Mail, the old rates have been discontinued.
Delivery will be through DHL using their Standard Next Day delivery service
A flat rate of £6.99 is now charged, and is regardless of order size - we apologise for this increase
Using DHL gives us better options for remediation of lost or damaged consignments
Packaging
We make every effort to protect your orders during transit and as such, you should expect the following:
All kimichi Jars and containers are surrounded by ♻️ Paper warping
The order is placed snug in a box (or boxes)
Finally, the box is sealed and labelled fragile , ready for dispatch
Dispatch
To avoid extended wait times in warm environments that increase the rate of fermentation, and thus chance of leakage, we have had to rethink when we dispatch
Orders taken will be dispatched Monday and Tuesday
Orders missing the Tuesday dispatch will be sent on the following Monday - we apologise for the long lead time to dispatch this may result in some orders
